ANTONIO VIERIA MELO 1938 - 2019 Antonio “Tony” Vieria Melo age 80 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at his residence. Tony was born on September 6, 1938 to Jose Cota and Maria (de Vieria) Melo in Angra Azores, Portugal. He was raised and schooled in Angra and he graduated from college in Portugal with a business degree. After graduating from college, he worked as the business manager for the Courlinda Company. Tony met Edith Paiva Mederios and they were later married on August 6, 1961 in Angra Azores. Tony and Edith moved to the United States in May of 1969 and to Plattsmouth later that year. Tony became a U.S. Citizen on December 16, 1976. He had worked at Campbell’s Soup from 1969 until 1972, then Plattsmouth Manor for sixteen years, St. Joseph Villa for six years, and Millard Good Samaritan Home for ten years until he retired in 2003. He is survived by his wife: Edith Melo of Plattsmouth, NE; two daughters: Raquel Hartranft and husband Tom of Glenwood, IA; Ruth Shockney and husband Tom of Smyrna, TN; son: Roy Melo and wife Brenda of Manley, NE; seven grandchildren: Alicia Melo of York, NE; Nick Melo and wife Desiree of Plattsmouth, NE; Tabitha Kruger and husband Aaron of Glenwood, IA; Lindsey Wylie and husband Robin of Smyrna, TN; Mikala Norrie and husband John of Omaha, NE; Shannon Chizek and husband Quinn of Omaha, NE; and Travis Melo of Springfield, NE; eight great grandchildren: Jackson Turner, Sarah Turner, Zachary Turner, Evelyn Melo, Skyelynn Kruger, Carson Wylie, Reagan Wylie, and Hunter Chizek; his brother: Manuel Frenando Melo and wife Fatima of Angra Azores, Portugal; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: Jose and Maria Melo, four brothers: Frank, Gilberto, Carlos, and Jose Melo, and his sister: Maria Melo. Visitations will be held from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M., on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Roby Funeral Home with Father Timothy Danik officiating. The Pallbearers will be Roy Melo, Tom Hartranft, Aaron Kruger, and John Norrie. His Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
