Bette Mae Sedlak

BETTE MAE SEDLAK 1928 – 2021 Bette Mae (Baumgart) Sedlak, age 93 of Plattsmouth, NE peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2021 at her residence. Bette was born on March 6, 1928 to Caesar Julius and LaVetta Ann (Renner) Baumgart in Plattsmouth. She was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and she graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1945. After graduating from high school, she worked at the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company in Omaha, NE. Bette met Matthew “Mutz” John Sedlak and they were later married on December 9, 1946 in Plattsmouth. Bette and Mutz made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth. She was a loving homemaker and mother. In 1970 Bette started working at the Cass County Clerk’s Office. She worked in the clerk’s office for 25 years, until retiring in 1995. Bette was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. She is survived by her son: Thomas Sedlak and wife Deborah of Palm Coast, FL; two daughters: Katherine Sedlak of Plattsmouth, NE; Sandra Loper of Plattsmouth, NE; three grandchildren: Kristine Fornoff and Amy Cariotto, Stephen Fornoff and wife Michelle, and Hali Garner and husband Brett; four great grandchildren: Rebecca Barney and husband Gabe, Logan Fornoff, Easton Fornoff, and Gemma Garner; one great great granddaughter: Daisy Barney; her sister: Judy Anderson of Waukee, IA; two sisters in law: Clarice Baumgart of Omaha, NE; Ruby Baumgart of Grass Valley, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Bette was preceded in death by her parents: Caesar and LaVetta Baumgart; husband: Mutz Sedlak, and her three brothers: Donald Baumgart, Herbert Baumgart, and William “Bill” Baumgart. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Father Michael Houlihan officiating and Terry Little as vocalist. Her Final Resting Place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth. Memorials to the Church of the Holy Spirit or for Masses.
