CLYDE GLEN THOMPSON 1942 – 2023 Clyde Glen Thompson age 81 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at his residence. He was born on February 28, 1942 to George Glen Thompson and Marjorie Maxine (Kellison) Thompson in Hamburg, IA. When Clyde was three years old, he moved with his family to Plattsmouth. He attended country school through the six grade and then he attended the Plattsmouth Public Schools, graduating from Plattsmouth High School with the Class of 1960. Clyde started working in high school at Ruback's Grocery Store in Plattsmouth. He worked at Ruback’s for seven years. Clyde met the love of his life, Shirley Fay Church and they were later united in marriage on May 30, 1965 at First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth. Clyde and Shirley made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth. Clyde worked as a grocery clerk at Safeway in Omaha, NE until he started working as a mechanic at The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Clyde worked at The Nebraska Masonic Home for 28 years, retiring in 2013. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and Plattsmouth Masonic Lodge #6 A.F. and A.M. He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Shirley Thompson of Plattsmouth, NE; his daughter: Christina Thompson of Plattsmouth, NE; two sons: Steven Thompson and his wife Michelle of Lathrop, MO; James Thompson and his wife Missey of Plattsmouth, NE; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three sisters: Shirley Sahulka of Manley, NE; Nancy Holste and her husband Roy of Clarinda, IA; Peggy Ahrens and her husband Kenneth of Weeping Water, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents: George and Marjorie Thompson. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Zachery Jones, Austin Thompson, Brianna Thompson, Jake Thompson, James Thompson, Jordan Thompson, and Linzy Thompson. His Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. Memorials to the Family (a suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
