DALE ROY SHARP 1946 – 2024 Dale Roy Sharp age 78 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was born on December 14, 1946 to Roy Beverly Sharp and Alma Lorene (Smith) Sharp in Omaha, NE. Dale was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and he graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1964. Dale met the love of his life Kathy Aschenbrener and they later married on June 16, 1979 in Plattsmouth. Together, they raised three children: Alison, Max, and Kacie. Dale was extremely family-oriented, always the rock for the family. Dale worked as a millwright and he instilled a tremendous work ethic in his children. Dale was extremely involved in his community throughout the years. He served on the Plattsmouth City Council from 1976–1982. He was a member of the Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department from 1981–1990. Dale was also elected as the Cass County Commissioner from 1984–1996 and 2017–2024. Dale loved restoring old vehicles, especially his 1935 International school bus “Old School”. He was a wealth of knowledge when it came to all mechanical-related things. He enjoyed going to car shows and visiting with his friends. Dale’s shop was a regular gathering place for anyone to stop down and shoot the breeze. But if you didn’t like listening to Willy’s Roadhouse on the radio, you might as well have kept on going. Dale was the epitome of “manly”. He was a strong, independent, and stubborn man. He was brave, stoic, and always stood his ground on his beliefs. What some people didn’t get to see was his loving nature. The man would do anything for anyone. Dale always encouraged others to do their best and to do what was right. He was a giant in every sense of the word, from his stature to his huge heart. Dale is survived by his wife: Kathy Sharp of Plattsmouth, NE; his son: Max Sharp and his wife Katie of Plattsmouth, NE; two daughters: Alison Sharp of Plattsmouth, NE and Kacie Moser and her husband Adam of Plattsmouth, NE; four grandchildren: Jaxon Sharp, Cade Sharp, Stella Moser, and Tommy Moser; three brothers: Thomas Sharp and wife Martha of Broomfield, CO. Billy Sharp of Plattsmouth, NE, and David Sharp and wife Angi of Plattsmouth, NE; three sisters: Mary Ann Toman and husband Tom of Murray, NE, Elaine Sharp of Longview, WA, and Stella Leonard and husband Gerry of Augusta, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Alma Sharp, his brother: Stephen E. Sharp, and two sisters: Susan Meints and Lisa Sharp-Adams. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Father Tony Bedient officiating, Jaxson Sharp as eulogist, and Terry Little as vocalist. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Schmidt, Lonnie Isles, Ray Spencer, Steve James, Alfred Major, Greg Morehead, Donnie Markham, Steve Tandy, Duane Murdoch, Tom Dooley, Vern Detloff, Gene Hoffman, Carl Rhylander, and Clarence Scholl. His Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The family suggests Memorials donations to the Plattsmouth Volunteer Firefighters Association and St. John The Baptist School.
