DARLENE ANN ELSTON 1941 – 2025 Darlene Ann (Czuba) Elston, age 83 of Bellevue, NE peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Hillcrest Health in Bellevue. Darlene was born on August 8, 1941, to Louis Aloysius Czuba and Frances Kathryn (Volnek) Czuba in Columbus, NE. She was raised in Columbus and Darlene graduated from St. Bonaventure High School with the class of 1959. Darlene met Larry Don Elston and they married on May 6, 1961 in Columbus. Darlene and Larry made their home in Columbus, Hay Springs, Plattsmouth and Bellevue, NE, where Larry worked as game warden for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Darlene worked as a secretary for the Cass County Attorney Office from 1965 until 1984. She attended and graduated from Bellevue University with Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration. Darlene worked as a legal secretary for the City of Omaha Attorney’s Office from 1984 until she retired in 2014. After retiring Darlene volunteered her time at the Bellevue Medical Center and at the Museum. She is survived by her daughter: Kelly Woodhouse and her husband David of Ft. Pierce, FL; her son: Jeff Elston and his wife Anne of Madisonville, LA, her two grandchildren: Brandon Elston and his wife Jordan of Oregan City, OR, and Dustin Elston of Charlotte, NC; her three sisters: Phyllis Barg and her husband Keith of Norfolk, NE, Mary Cook and her husband Larry of Fremont, NE, and Dee Artz of Kearney, NE; her sister-in-law: Liz Czuba of Columbus, NE; her brother-in-law: Paul Kozak of Columbus, NE, and her friend: Ken Prososki of Bellevue, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Frances Czuba, her brother: Phil Czuba, her sister: JoAnn Kozak, her husband: Larry Elston, and her step-daughter: Kara Mabee. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellevue. Her Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
