DORIS ELLEN LANDON 1931 – 2025 Doris Ellen (Rothe) Landon, age 94 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at her residence. She was born on April 7, 1931, to William Andrew Rothe and Helen (Pitz) Rothe on her family’s farm near Cumberland, IA. Doris attended Springdale Country School and she graduated from Griswold High School in Griswold, IA with the class of 1948. She met the love of her life, Duane Russell Landon and they were later married on June 26, 1955 at Nobel United Brethren Church in Griswold, IA. Doris and Duane made their home and raised their family in Plattsmouth. Doris was Cub Scout Den Mother and Den Leader Coach. She held offices in the Parent Teachers Association and the Band Parents. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth and the First United Methodist Women for many years holding several offices. Doris is survived by her two sons: David Landon of Plattsmouth, NE and Doug Landon and his wife Kim of Grand Island, NE; her daughter: Diane Stastka and her husband Ron of Fremont, CA; six grandchildren: Matthew Landon, Timothy Landon, Eric Landon, Rebecca Rehder, Nicole Hauf, and Claire Stastka; nine great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Norma Landon, Helen Tritt, Linda Landon; and two brothers-in-law: Don Landon and Harlan Landon; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents: William and Helen Rothe, her husband: Duane Landon, her four sisters: Dorothy Rothe, Jane (Gaylord) Stahl, Alice (Bobby) Kuhns, and Idella (Bill) Hogan, her five brothers: Willard (Virginia) Rothe, Elmer (Helen) Rothe, Lynn (Lucille) Rothe, Verl (Edna) Rothe, and Dale (Judy) Rothe, and her brother-in-law: Leland (Helen) Landon. A Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M., with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Friday, August 8, 2025 at First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth with Rev. Lee Wigert officiating, vocalist Pam Osthus, and Donna Glynn as organist Her Final Resting Place will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Plattsmouth with a luncheon to follow at First United Methodist Church.
