DORTHY FRANCES DEBACKER 1933 – 2025 Dorthy Frances (Dyer) DeBacker, age 92 of Lincoln, NE passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Dorthy was born on February 21, 1933, to James Lewis Dyer and Emily Elizabeth (Groves) Dyer in Comanche, OK. She grew up on her family’s farm, where they planted and harvested peanuts and cotton by hand. Her family moved to Phoenix, AZ where she graduated from Arizonia High School with the class of 1950. Dorthy worked as a secretary at many different businesses throughout her life. She met, dated, and later married Reginaldo Remigio Leutz on June 9, 1953 in Phoenix. While Reginaldo was serving his county in the U.S. Air Force, Dorthy and Reginaldo were stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona from 1951 until 1956, Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska from 1956 to 1959, Griffith Air Force Base in New York from 1959 until 1964 and then Offutt Air Force base in Bellevue, NE from 1964 until 1968. Reginaldo was deployed to Vietnam and when he returned from the war Dorthy and Reginaldo divorced. Dorthy raised their three daughters on her own and she worked for Nutrina Feed for many years. In 1970, she moved to Plattsmouth, NE where she worked for NPPD for twenty years. She later met and married Eugene Frances DeBacker on October 22, 1982 in Plattsmouth. Dorthy and Eugene made their home in Plattsmouth and they enjoyed taking many trips in their RV with their family. After retiring from NPPD, Dorthy bought an RV and travel to Arizona in the winter months and to northern Iowa during the summer, with her travel friends, Denny and Chris. Dorthy later settled at Cenla RV Park in Spirit Lake, IA, where she worked and lived for 15 years until she returned Plattsmouth in 2016. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. Dorthy is survived by her two daughters: Teresa E. Aylor and her husband Thomas of Beresford, SD and Kathryn M. Steckly and her husband Jerry of Lincoln, NE; son-in-law: Dale A. Cox of La Vista, NE; five grandchildren: Jason C. Babcock and his wife Toni of Plattsmouth, NE, Wesley D. Babcock of Omaha, NE, Rachel M. Zadina and her husband Phil of Papillion, NE, Kevin A. Cox and his girlfriend Lilly Taylor of Elkhorn, NE, and Reed A. Aylor and his wife Adrian of Bronson, IA; six great grandchildren: Hadley C. Aylor, Thomas A. Aylor, Nola L. Zadina, Abraham J. Zadina, Augustine P. Zadina, and Tiberius C. Babcock; one sister-in-law: Elnora Dyer of Meridian, ID; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents: James and Emily Dyer, her husband: Eugene DeBacker, her daughter: Sherri J. Cox, her four brothers: James Ray Dyer and his wife Bonnie, Richard Alvis Dyer and his wife Ammie, Walter Eugene Dyer, and Clarence Edward Dyer; two sisters: Mary Evelyn Gilland and Alice Faye Dyer. Visitations will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the Church of the Holy Spirit 520 S. 18th St., Plattsmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Mark Pfeiffer officiating. The Pallbearers will be Reed Aylor, Jason Babcock, Wesley Babcock, Kevin Cox, J.R. Steckly, and Phil Zadina. Her Final Resting Place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
