Eloise Mae Classen

ELOISE MAE CLASSEN 1928 – 2016 Eloise Mae (Carney) Classen age 88 of Plattsmouth, NE entered into rest on August 16, 2016 at The Waterford at Woodbridge in Plattsmouth, NE. She was born on April 23, 1928 to William Cornelius and Helen Marie (Henderson) Carney in Minden, NE. Eloise was raised and schooled in Minden, Wilcox, and Campbell, NE. She graduated from Campbell High School, where she took normal training, which then allowed her to teach country school. She taught country school for a year and a half and she attended college for a year. Eloise met Donald Lee Classen and they were later married on February 19, 1948 in Campbell, where they made their home. To this union four children were born David, Mary, Beth, and Alan. Eloise was a full time mom, housewife, and a homemaker but while Don was in the service, during the Korean Conflict, she worked at J.C. Penney. Eloise and Don made their home and raised their children in Hastings, Ayr, and Axtell, NE. The Classen's owned and operated The Orange Coach Steakhouse and Lounge in Axtell. Then they moved to Millard, NE until Don's death, then Eloise moved to Plattsmouth, NE. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the P.C.C.W. (Parish Council of Christian Women) both of Plattsmouth. Eloise is survived by her four children: David Classen and his wife Mary of Kearney, NE; Mary Nielsen and her husband David of Murray, NE; Beth Classen of Omaha, NE; Alan Classen and his wife Kelly of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren: Chris, Janelle, Lindsay, Matt, Tom, and Sam; four great grandchildren: Grant, Gavin, Garrett, and Charlie; her brother-in-law: David Brush of Yakima, WA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Helen Classen, husband: Donald Classen, sister: Rosemary Brush, and brother: Donald Carney. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 P.M., Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 A.M., Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Loras K. Grell officiating, Mary Lou Salazar as lector, Jim Ulrich as acolyte, and Terry Little as vocalist. Inurnment will be at 3:00 P.M., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Eloise's final resting place in Blue Valley Cemetery in Ayr, NE. The family suggests memorials to Blue Valley Cemetery in Ayr or for Masses at Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth.
