Eva Nell DeCoster

EVA NELL DECOSTER 1932 – 2023 Eva Nell (Mendenhall) DeCoster age 90 of Plattsmouth, NE peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Alegent Health Midlands Hospital in Papillion, NE. She was born on July 23, 1932 to Thomas James Mendenhall and Mabel Pearl Irene (Barnes) Mendenhall in Plattsmouth. Eva Nell was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and she graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1950. Eva Nell had worked at Mutual of Omaha, for the U.S. Government in Washington, DC, and at Allied Chemical in Plattsmouth. While she was working at Allied Chemical, Eva Nell met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Henry DeCoster. Eva Nell and Bob hit it off and they were later married on August 7, 1954 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plattsmouth. Eva Nell and Bob made their home in Plattsmouth and Eva Nell was a stay at home mom, housewife, and homemaker. While Bob was working for the Union Pacific Railroad, Eva Nell and Bob lived and raised their sons in Plattsmouth, Omaha, Portland, OR for nine years, then back to Papillion, NE, and they finally settled back in Plattsmouth. Eva Nell is survived by her husband: Robert “Bob” DeCoster of Plattsmouth, NE; three sons: Michael DeCoster; Anthony DeCoster of Brooklyn, IA; Gerald DeCoster and his wife Vicky of Papillion, NE; seven grandchildren: Amy Genosick and her husband Nick, Beth Coonrod and her husband Peter, Malory Hamre and her husband Wade, Stacy DeCoster, April Johnson and her husband Dylan, Joshua DeCoster, and Claire DeCoster; eight great grandchildren: Brooks, Lindy, Jaiden, Bowen, Ada, Morgan, Evelyn, and Gabriel; and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Mabel Mendenhall and her great grandson: Bradley DeCoster. Visitations will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M., on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Sean Timmerman officiating, Harlan Seyfer as lector, Dan Rubin as acolyte, Terry Little as vocalist, and Laurie Hajek-Jones as organist. The Pallbearers will be Anthony DeCoster, Jerry DeCoster, Joshua DeCoster, Michael DeCoster, Stacy DeCoster, and Jaiden Hamre. Her Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The family suggests Memorials to Church of the Holy Spirit or the Open Door Mission in Omaha.
