Geary Ronald Crom

Geary Robert Crom March 10, 1931 – September 29, 2013 Geary Robert Crom Age 82 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Geary Robert Crom was born on March 10, 1931 to Robert Edwin and Ruby Mae (Bacon) Crom in Tekamah, Nebraska. He was raised and schooled in Tekamah and rural Union, Nebraska. Geary worked on his family's farm with his father. Then at age twenty one, he enlisted in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he returned Nebraska where he worked at the Union Stockyards in Omaha building their livestock pen system. He met and later married, the love of his Vera Lou Hedlund on June 18, 1955 in Malvern, Iowa. Later, Geary worked at Wilson Concrete, until he started his cement finisher apprenticeship. After completing his apprenticeship he worked in construction as a union cement finisher until he retired. He and his family had made their home in Union, Murray, and Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Geary was a member of Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife: Vera Crom of Plattsmouth, NE, five sons: Geary Lee Crom and wife Kim of Machesney Park, IL, Robert "Bob" Lee Crom and wife Sandra of Eufaula, OK, Michael Ray Crom and wife Christine of Robert, LA, Steven Douglas Crom of Murray, NE, Ronald Dean Crom and wife Dona of Cameron, MO, daughter: Diana Kay Brannon and husband Tim of Thurman, IA, nineteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, three sisters: Jennie Major of Springfield, MO, Delores Hallett and husband Ronald of Atlantic, IA, Esther Walker of Omaha, NE, brother: Frederick Crom and wife Gerry of Plattsmouth, NE, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Geary was preceded in death by his parents: Robert & Ruby Crom, two brothers: Karlyle "Short" Crom and Delbert Crom, and two brothers-in-law: Orval Major and Kensil Walker. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth with Pastor Raymond Wicks officiating. The Pallbearers are Joseph B. Brannon, Geary R. Crom, Daniel Ray Crom, Michael Crom, Steven D. Crom Jr., and Joshua Crom. Visitations will be held from 1-9 PM, Wednesday, October 2, 2013 with family receiving relatives and friends from 5-7 PM at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE with lunch following the burial at Casco Arms in Plattsmouth, NE. Military Rites will be conducted by Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth, NE. The family suggests memorials to Family Choice.
