Herbert DeWayne Freeburg

HERBERT DEWAYNE FREEBURG 1932 – 2017 Herbert DeWayne Freeburg age 84 of Plattsmouth, NE entered into rest on Monday, April 17, 2017 at his daughter's residence in South Sioux City, NE. DeWayne was born on December 26, 1932 to Herbert Anderson and Elthea Gertrude (Mincer) Freeburg in Spencer, IA. DeWayne was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth, NE and attended Plattsmouth High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for two years during the Korean Conflict. He met Nadine Fae White and they were later married on May 2, 1956 at the Sarpy County Court House in Papillion, NE. DeWayne and Nadine made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth. DeWayne owned and operated the Gamble's Store from 1951 until 1977. Then he worked as a furniture salesman for Townesquare in Dallas, TX from 1977 until he retired in 2000. While DeWayne was working for Townesquare, he was very proud of helping with the design of the "Glider Chair". He was a charter member of Plattsmouth Fire and Rescue Squad, member of Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543, and the 4-H Horse Saddle Club all of Plattsmouth. He is survived by his wife of sixty years: Nadine Freeburg of Plattsmouth, NE; six daughters: Jane Shera and her husband Larry of Plattsmouth, NE; Teresa Heedum of Plattsmouth, NE; Sharon Eubanks and her husband Steve of Bellevue, NE; Kathy Bobenmoyer and her husband David of Greenwood, NE; Mary Dahlin and her husband Kim of South Sioux City, NE; Kim Kostal and her husband Jerry of Papillion, NE, two sons: Mike Freeburg of Plattsmouth, NE; Donnie Freeburg and his wife Kelly of Plattsmouth, NE: eighteen grandchildren: Jennifer Marie Adkins and husband Gary; Julie Ann Wischmann and husband Will; Jason Heedum; Brooke Heedum; Erin Minshall and husband Joe; Brandy Moyer and husband Luke; Bradley Eubanks and wife Amy; Teara Adams and husband Ryan, Travis Bobenmoyer; Ryan Freeburg and fiancée Becca Siders; Cole Freeburg; Blake Kostal; Karalle Anderson and husband Donny; Kelsey Sanders and husband Johny; Tristen Freeburg; Brent Dahlin; Chris Riemann and wife Katie; Heidi Riemann; twenty one great grandchildren: Coby James Smallridge; Carter Austin Adkins; Emma Marie Wischmann; Lily Annette Wischmann; Alexis Slavicek; Trenton Marasco; Jordan Geiger; Dakota Minshall; Derick Minshall; Mya Jo Heedum; Brogan Moyer; Alexandra Eubanks; Graham Moyer; Matthew Anson; Katelyn Adams; Lillian Adams; Myleigh Riemann; Austin Riemann; Brody Sanders; Jaxon Dahlin; Presley Dahlin; brother: Donald Freeburg of Plattsmouth, NE; two nephews: Dr. Tad Freeburg and wife Lisa of Omaha, NE; Tim Freeburg of Plattsmouth, NE; niece: Tammy Freeburg of Plattsmouth, NE; two great nieces: Jillian Eggert and husband Alex; Julia Freeburg; great nephew: Connor Freeburg; great great niece: Ellie Eggert; numerous cousins, and many friends. DeWayne was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert and Elthea Freeburg, two grandsons: Jason Heedum and Travis Bobenmoyer, and sister-in-law: Janice Freeburg. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, April 21, 2017 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth with Pastor Michael McGregor officiating and Carol Wehrbein as organist. Pallbearers will be Bradley Eubanks, Cole Freeburg, Ryan Freeburg, Tim Freeburg, Blake Kostal, and Christopher Riemann. Honorary Pallbearers in Spirit will be Jason Heedum and Travis Bobenmoyer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Cook, Don Freeburg, Jack Glaze, Carl Ofe, Dr. Don Rhoden, Ron Rookstool, Merrill Slafter, Barb Stapp, Lisa Stapp, Bob Wagner, and Todd Wilson. His final resting place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. Military Rites will be conducted by Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 Honor Guard of Plattsmouth. The family suggests Memorials to the Plattsmouth Volunteer Firefighter's Association or Plattsmouth Parks and Recreation Department.
