JOHN EDWARD BLOTZER JR. 1936 – 2014 John "Blotz" Edward Blotzer Jr. age 78 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Plattsmouth, NE. John was born on February 12, 1936 to John Edward Sr. and Hermina F. (Gradoville) Blotzer in Murray, NE. He was raised in the Murray and Plattsmouth area. He attended Eight Mile Grove School in rural Murray, St. John School in Plattsmouth, and he graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1953. While in high school John met the love of his life, Beverly Ann Harris and they were later married on October 25, 1958 in Plattsmouth, NE. After high school, Blotz began working at Ofe Oil in Plattsmouth. In1962 he became a co-owner of Ofe Oil. John was a member of Church of The Holy Spirit and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #365 both in Plattsmouth. John is survived by his daughter: Lisa Groth and husband Roger of Omaha, NE, two sons: David Blotzer of Plattsmouth, NE, John W. Blotzer and wife Lori of Plattsmouth, NE, five grandchildren: Sarah Hammers and husband Patrick of Lincoln, NE, David Groth of St. Joseph, MO, John W. Blotzer Jr. of Plattsmouth, NE, Donovan Blotzer of Des Moines, IA, Logan Blotzer of Plattsmouth, NE, great granddaughter: Aubrey Hammers, two sisters-in-law: Mary Jane Beins of Plattsmouth, NE, Darline Blotzer of Beatrice, NE, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: John Sr. and Hermina Blotzer, step-mother: Metta Mae Blotzer, wife: Beverly Blotzer, brother: Donald "Buzz" Blotzer, two sisters: Ruth Ann Sherman, and Helen McClain. The Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth with Pastor Michael McGregor officiating. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 pm, with family greeting relatives and friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, December 8, 2014 at Roby Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carl Ofe, Denny Ptak, Jon Schuetz, Albert Dasher, Roger Schmidt, Jack Todd, Emerson Wiles, Roger Montgomery, Bill Allgeier, Tom Winscot, and Donnie Blotzer. Final Resting Place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The family suggests memorials to ALS in the Heartland, Plattsmouth Baseball Parents Association (PBPA), or the Plattsmouth Fire and Rescue Squads.
