KAYE L. PLAYER 1940 – 2023 Kaye L. (Smith) Player, age 82, of Beaver Lake, NE passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the CHI Health Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, NE. She was born on June 20, 1940 to Allen and Hazel (Williams) Smith in Orlando, FL. Kaye was raised and educated in Orlando. She worked in her family’s hardware store for a while. Kaye met the love of her life, Raymond “Ray” C Player and they were later married on August 5, 1968 in Ocoee, FL. While Ray was proudly serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, Kaye and Ray made their home in Florida, Georgia, and Guam, before settling in Bellevue, Nebraska. They were blessed with two children, Tim and Linda. At retirement, Kaye and Ray moved to Florida and traveled. They returned to Nebraska in 2006 and settled at Beaver Lake. Together they created their ideal family home. They filled the home with the love and laughter of family gatherings. Their love and devotion, for each other and their family, surpassed their individual desires. In her free time, Kaye also enjoyed gardening, camping, reading, and working word puzzles. Kaye is survived by her son: Timothy Player and his wife Beverly of Millard, NE; daughter: Linda Miller of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren: Machaela Player, Kody Wheatley and her husband Tommy, Abigail Miller, Keenan Miller, Ajillian Bjerke and her husband Wesley, Adam Hammerberg and his wife Camille, and Tracy Hammerberg; eleven great grandchildren: Arty, Elias, Cacelia, Thomas, Olivia, Jazzy, Finley, Renezmae, Emersyn, Lucas, and Dustin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Player, her parents: Allen and Hazel Smith, her two brothers: Terry Smith and Mike Smith, and her nephew: Wayne Hammond. A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Family suggests Memorials to Murray Fire and Rescue.
