Kenneth "Kenny" Francis Heimann

KENNETH FRANCIS HEIMANN 1937 – 2022 Kenneth “Kenny” Francis Heimann, age 85, of Bennington, NE, formerly of Howells, NE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Ridgewood Senior Living in Bennington. Kenny was born on August 4, 1937 to Alois John Heimann and Marie Ann (Bayer) Heimann of Howells, NE in the St. Henry’s Community just north of Howells. He was raised on the farm in Howells and attended country school and Howells High School. Kenny worked on the farm throughout his young life and enlisted in the Army in 1954 when he was 17. He did basic training at Fort Hood, Texas and was in the Artillery as a sharp shooter, then deployed to Germany. Kenny enjoyed the German beer and talked about getting a little snockered the first night when he landed. He enjoyed his time in the service and was able to travel to Rome and meet the Pope. Kenny made some lifelong military friends that he stayed in touch with his entire life. Kenny met the love of his life, LaVane Louise Vogltance before he went into the service. He wrote many love letters to LaVane while he was away. After the service, he moved to California and worked at an automotive factory, and became an LA Dodger Baseball fan. Kenny moved back to Nebraska and lived in Omaha, as LaVane was also living in the city. They lived in Omaha for a brief period before they married on November 4, 1958 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Kenny and LaVane made their home and raised their children on their farm just east of Howells, NE for 46 years. In 2003 they retired and moved to Elkhorn, NE. Kenny loved spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, fishing, and traveling to Vegas. They’ve had so many friends that filled their lives with joy and happiness over the years. They opened their arms to all, and taught us what true friendship means! Kenny’s faith was deep. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Elkhorn, and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3943. He is survived by his two daughters: Kathy Higgins and husband Kirk of Bennington, NE; Deborah Jackson and husband Scott of La Vista, NE; four sons: Daniel Heimann and wife Belinda of Bennington, NE; Ronald Heimann and wife Julie of Adel, IA; David Heimann of Dodge, NE; Paul Heimann and wife Rhonda of Fremont, NE; nine grandchildren: Whitney Crist and husband Jace, Dexter Higgins and wife Sierra, Demi Patterson and husband Jarek, Blake Heimann, KC Hegemann and husband Luke, Ellie Morehouse, Brianna Heimann, Garret Jackson, and wife Emily, and Shelby Jackson; Nine great grandchildren: Maylin, Brockdan, Adelynn Crist, Carter, Cobie, Calvin Higgins, Norah, Jax Patterson, Rhett Risch and Kezly Hegemann; his sisters: Delma Brester of Howells, Arlene Langhorst of West Point; his brother Melvin Heimann of Columbus; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents: Alois and Marie Heimann, infant daughter: Jackie Heimann, his wife: LaVane Heimann, and sister: Ardyce Luxa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn, followed by a Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn with Father Padraic Stack officiating. The Pallbearers will be Kenny’s grandchildren: Whitney Crist, Dexter Higgins, Demi Patterson, Blake Heimann, KC Hegemann, Ellie Morehouse, Brianna Heimann, Garret Jackson, and Shelby Jackson. Military Rites will be conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard, Military Funeral Honor Guard. His Final Resting Place will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Elkhorn. In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials to the Family (a suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
