LESTER LEON BRIGGS 1948 – 2013 Lester Leon Briggs age 65 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Alegent Midlands Community Hospital in Papillion, NE. He was born on August, 22, 1948 to Verner Elroy and Ethel Mary (Hester) Briggs in Hutchinson, KS. Lester was born, raised, and schooled in Hutchinson, KS. He graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 1966. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the US Air Force and served our country for twenty years and six months. Lester met the love of his life, Lucia Maria Macedo and they later married on March 3, 1973 in Azores, Portugal. He and his family lived in several locations while he served in the Air Force, settling in Plattsmouth in 1990. Lester was a member of First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth, NE. He is survived by his Wife: Lucia Briggs of Plattsmouth, NE, Daughter: Tonya (Briggs) Zietlow & husband David of San Jose, CA, Four Sons: Billy Briggs & wife Valerie of Hutchinson, KS, Mike Briggs & wife Angela of Papillion, NE, Danny Briggs & wife Kim of Plattsmouth, NE, Larry Briggs & wife Kathy of Plattsmouth, NE, Thirteen Grandchildren: Mickaela Briggs, Bradley Briggs, Shelby Briggs, Dylan Briggs, Brendon Briggs, Emily Briggs, Ryleigh Briggs, Chase Briggs, Natalie Briggs, Kayla Briggs, Haylie Briggs, Johnathan Zietlow, and Allie Zietlow, Three Sisters: Colleen Nichols & husband Nick of Olathe, KS, Bernice Reed of Hutchinson, KS, Patty Brawner & husband Ron of Hutchinson, KS, Brother: Bill Briggs & wife Sheryl of Hutchinson, KS, and Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Lester was preceded in death by his Son: Roger P. Briggs, Parents: Verner and Ethel Briggs, Father-in-law: Jose Macedo, Grandmother: Louisa Barcelos, Brother-in-law: Joe Reed, and Nephews: Jeff Briggs and Vernie Reed. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth, NE with Pastor Raymond Wicks officiating. Visitations will be from 1-9 P.M. with family receiving relatives and friends from 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. Pallbearers will be Billy Briggs, Mike Briggs, Danny Briggs, Larry Briggs, Roger Macedo, and David Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lester's Grandchildren: Mickaela Briggs, Bradley Briggs, Shelby Briggs, Dylan Briggs, Brendon Briggs, Emily Briggs, Ryleigh Briggs, Chase Briggs, Natalie Briggs, Kayla Briggs, Haylie Briggs, Johnathan Zietlow, and Allie Zietlow. His Final Resting Place is at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE. Military Rites will be conducted by Offutt Air Force Base Military Rites Team, Bellevue, NE. Memorials to the Family.
