Lois Mae Engel

LOIS MAE ENGEL June 12, 1928 – January 17, 2018 Lois Mae (Terry) Engel age 89 of Plattsmouth, NE formerly of Omaha, NE passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Hillcrest Health Plaza in Bellevue, NE. She was born on June 12, 1928 to Charles Ross and Edna Mae (Goodwill) Terry in Omaha, NE. Lois was raised and schooled in Omaha and she graduated from Benson High School with the class of 1945. After graduating from high school, Lois joined a big band, singing with the orchestra. She travelled and sang all over the southern United States. While singing with her band she met Samuel Albert Harrison, while he was stationed in Florida with the Navy. After Sam was discharged from the Navy, they moved to Omaha where they made their home and raised their children. Lois was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She became an accountant and had worked for CPA's, car dealers, a grocery store, and Metropolitan Utilities District. Lois met William C. Engel and they were later married on May 2, 1974 in Omaha. Lois and William made their home Omaha and she continued to work as an accountant for MUD until she retired in 1992. Due to her failing health, Lois moved to Plattsmouth, NE. Lois was a member of the Ralston United Church of Christ. She is survived by her two daughters: Sherry Hillman and husband Steve of Acworth, GA; Merry Hinton and husband Ken of Ralston, NE; two sons: Ross Harrison and wife Mary of Bellevue, NE; Thomas Engel and wife Kyong He of Graham, WA; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; her brother: Arnold Terry and wife Joann of Brea, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Edna Terry, husbands: Sam Harrison and William Engel, three sisters: Helen Robertson, Lucille Curtis, and Marilyn Smith, and her two brothers: Harvey Terry and Charles R. Terry. The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 22, 2018 at Ralston United Church of Christ with Pastor Lynette Janssen officiating, Emmett Williams as soloist, and Sonja Lundgren as organist. Final Resting Place will be at Westlawn Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Ralston United Church of Christ.
