NORMAN EUGENE MANLEY 1940 – 2024 Norman “Norm” Eugene Manley age 83 of Murray, NE peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at his residence. Norman was born in Elk Creek, NE on December 7, 1940 to Warren Clifford Manley and Sarah Alice (Edwards) Manley. Shortly afterwards they moved to Burchard, NE until he was ten years old, when they moved to Beatrice, NE and two years later the family moved to Omaha, NE. In Omaha Norman attended public school, then graduated from Tech High School in 1958. He started working at a young age of fifteen at a grocery store. Then after high school, he worked at Rapid Printing as a print setter. Then at M.U.D., and then he started working construction, building apartments and houses. Later he began his own construction company and was a fantastic craftsman. On June 6, 1959, Norman and Kathryn “Kathy” Ann Lucht were married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Omaha. To this union six children were born. They celebrated sixty-four years of marriage in June 2023. Norman enjoyed golf, Husker football, watching his kids in sports, and as their family grew, enjoyed all the grandkids. He was a true friend, helping family and friends in time of need. Through prayers and the grace of God, Norman joined the Church of the Holy Spirit family on June 8, 2023. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family with love and prayers. Norm was a hard worker both on the field and at his job. He played basketball and softball on the M.U.D. team. He later found his love of golf and enjoyed playing with his brothers and sister, and nephews, who always attempt to win the game. They had to wait until he was eighty to beat him. He taught his own kids to roof, and other building skills at a young age. Many who built their own homes. And his two daughters who also share a love of home improvement. He was a caregiver for his mother, sister Anna Mae, brothers Gaylord and Wendell, and his dear friends, and of course Kathy with her broken bones. He loved to tell stories and probably the one he loved to tell the most was how he suffered from “Dog Jaw”. Just ask one of his kids. Norm is survived by his wife: Kathy; four sons: Mike, Dan (Annette), Greg (Shawna), and Bryan (Jodi); two daughters: Janet (Keith) Diltz and Patty (Tim) Smith; twenty-seven grandchildren: Nate (Tricia) Manley, Shaun Diltz, Matt (Ashley) Manley, Brittney (Todd) Lemon, Jason (Carmen) Lemon, Melanie (Andrew) Hrivnak, Justin (Tori) Manley, Amanda (Justin) Lorenzen, Dani (J.D.) Hancock, Katie (Bradey) Blair, Jessica Diltz, Joe (Grace) Manley, Kyle (Angie) Manley, Jacob (Kali) Manley, Ashley (Kirk) Clark, Alysha Diltz, Ben (McKinsey) Manley, Morgan (Logan) Richards, Ethan (Lexi) Manley, Jayme (Devin) Baker, Marcus Manley, Hannah (Dillon) Hixon, Kortney Smith, Julia Diltz, Abby Manley, Parker (Kathryn) Manley, and Garrett Smith; forty-one great grandchildren; his sister: Wanda Evans; sister-in-law: Delores Manley; his two brothers-in-law: Les (Diane) Lucht and Mel (Patty) Lucht; his lifetime friend: Duane Wilcox; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Norman was preceded in death by his parents: Warren and Alice Manley, five brothers, two sisters, and a great grandson: Cruz Manley. Visitations will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., on Friday, February 9, 2024 with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 520 S. 18th St., Plattsmouth. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Church of the Holy Spirit. His Final Resting Place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth. In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials can be made to the Family for a later designation or to St. John the Baptist School Foundation.
