ROGER ALLEN MONTGOMERY 1940 – 2022 Roger Allen Montgomery age 82 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Azria Health Montclair in Omaha, NE. Roger was born on January 10, 1940 to John Franklin and Esther Viola (Kruger) Montgomery in St. Francis, KS. He was raised and schooled in St. Francis and Roger graduated from Cheyenne Wells High School in Cheyenne Wells, CO with the class of 1958. After graduating from high school, he attended Kansas State University for five years. Roger started working at his first job at Pizza Hut in Lincoln, NE. He moved to Denver, CO where he worked construction. Then Roger drove a semi and lived in Durango, CO, Atlantic, IA, and Chariton, IA. He met Barbara “Barb” Jean Buzzard and they were later married in June of 1970 in Princeton, MO. Roger and Barb made their home in Coffeyville, KS where Roger worked as an operations manager for a trucking company. Later they moved to Wichita, KS and Roger worked as the terminal manager for a trucking company. Then Roger and Barb moved to Cedar Creek, NE and later to Plattsmouth in 1974, where Roger started his own trucking company. In 2001, Roger and Barb traveled in their motor home for seven years. Roger had served on the Plattsmouth Parks Board, the Plattsmouth City Council, and he was a past president of the Plattsmouth Baseball Parents. He is survived by his two sons: John “J.R.” Roger Montgomery and his wife Susan of Phoenix, AZ; Chad Montgomery and his fiancée Elizabeth of Papillion, NE; his step-son: Kurt Keefe of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren: Jeff Montgomery and his wife Abby, Chayse Montgomery; and many friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents: John and Esther Montgomery, his wife Barb Montgomery, and his step-son: Arthur “Skipper” Beck Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 in Plattsmouth. His Final Resting Place will be at Glendale Cemetery in Louisville, NE. Memorials to the Family (a suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
