Ronald "Roy" LeRoy Hickey

RONALD LEROY HICKEY 1933 – 2014 Ronald "Roy" LeRoy Hickey age 81 of Union, NE passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at his residence. Roy was born on January 19, 1933 to Cloyd Harold and Minnie (Johnson) Hickey on his family's farm in Union, NE. He attended country school and attended Union High School. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy serving his country during the Korean Conflict. While in the Navy he served on USS Luzon and USS Mt. Katmai. After serving in the Navy, he worked as a farmer. He met the love of his life, Rose Marie Franke and they were later married on June 19, 1959 in Omaha, NE. He worked as a maintenance specialist for the civil service at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, NE for 30 years. Roy was also a farmer while he worked for the civil service. Roy enjoyed his many friends and fishing was his favorite past time. He was a member of Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 and a Golden Eagle of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #365 both of Plattsmouth, NE. Roy is survived by his wife: Rose Hickey of Union, NE, son: Matt Hickey of Hershey, NE, two sisters: Arlene Jones and husband Jack of Pima, AZ, Bess Finnell of Nebraska City, NE, two brothers: K.E. Hickey and wife Violet of Union, NE, Glen Hickey and wife Karen of Union, NE, numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Cloyd and Minnie Hickey, brother: Merlin Hickey, and sister: Deloris Seydlitz. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Crossroads Bible Church in Manley, NE with Pastor Gary Wissel officiating, Daren Fleischman as vocalist, and Kris Wissel as pianist. Visitations will be held from 1-9 P.M. with family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8 P.M., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE. The Pallbearers will be Randy Gilbert, Jason Henderson, Richard Hickey, Justin J. Hobscheidt, Dan Lechner, and Jeremy Stone. Honorary Pallbearers will be K.E. Hickey, Glen Hickey, Loyd Hickey, Clark Hinkle, Irvin Franke, and Daniel Franke. Internment will be at East Union Cemetery in Union, NE. Military Rites will be conducted by Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth. The family suggests memorials to Crossroads Bible Church.
