RUSSWIN KELSE HELSLEY 1949 – 2018 Russwin "Russ" Kelse Helsley age 68 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, NE. He was born on February 22, 1949 to Harold Lewis and Marjorie Naomi (Fingar) Helsley in Hudson, NY. Russ was raised and schooled in Germantown, NY and he graduated from Germantown High School with the class of 1968. While in high school Russ worked on his family's orchard, Fingar Farm and he also worked as a gas station attendant at Baxter Service Station. Russ enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving for four years, then the Nebraska Air National Guard for eighteen years. While serving his country, Russ worked as an airplane mechanic. Russ was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, NE, when he met Diana Sue Younker and they were later married on September 3, 1971 in Omaha, NE. Russ and Diana lived in Omaha for a year, Germantown for a few months, and then Plattsmouth where they made their home and raised their children. Russ had worked as a welder fabricator at Wilson Concrete from 1973 until he retired in 2014. He is survived by his wife: Diana Helsley of Plattsmouth, NE; two sons: Chad Harold Helsley of Plattsmouth, NE; Russwin Dee Helsley and wife Kathy of Plattsmouth, NE; three daughters: Dawn Wilson and husband Mike of Plattsmouth, NE; Stephanie Rhoads and husband Dustin of Plattsmouth, NE; Heather Bare and husband Jeremiah of Bellevue, NE; nine grandchildren: Dakota, Jordon, Brady, and Presley Wilson, Russwin Helsley Jr., Aubree Bare, Garret Helsley, Cyndall Bare, and Keaton Rhoads; brother: Wayne Helsley and wife Kathy of Red Hook, NY; sister: Beth Repko of Aurora, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Marjorie Helsley, two sisters: Wanda Drivas and Melody Graziano, father and mother-in-law: Donald and Maxine Younker, and brother-in-law: Ricky Younker. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M, with family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Roby Funeral Home. The Pallbearers will be Russwin Helsley, Chad Helsley, Jeremiah Bare, Dustin Rhoads, Christopher Younker, and Scott Johnson. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Younker, Dennis Johnson, Lanny Fisher, Wayne Helsley, Wayne M. Helsley, Scott Repko, Steve Klawson, Randy Younker, and Larry Younker. His Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. Military Rites will be conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Military Rites Team of Bellevue, NE.
