Gene "Snorkal" Thomas Tschirren

GENE THOMAS TSCHIRREN 1948 – 2015 Gene "Snorkal" Thomas Tschirren age 67 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Veterans Affairs Medical Hospital in Omaha, NE. Snorkal was born on January 18, 1948 in Omaha, NE and he was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth. He was drafted into the US Army in February of 1968 and he served his country during the Vietnam War. While serving his country, Snorkal was highly decorated receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged in October of 1969. After serving in the Army, he returned to Plattsmouth where he lived and worked construction as a carpenter and a concrete specialist. He met Stacey Lorraine Trively and they were later married on November 15, 1985 in Plattsmouth. Snorkal and Stacey made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth. He was a lifelong Plattsmouth resident and he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Lepert Wolever Post V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth. Snorkal is survived by his wife: Stacey Tschirren of Plattsmouth, NE, three daughters: Christine Kaffenberger and significant other Frank Myers of Orlando, FL, Gina Carter and husband Gary of Plattsmouth, NE, Caroline Perricci and husband Alex of Plattsmouth, NE, two sons: Tony Kaffenberger and wife Becky of Plattsmouth, NE, Jason Burns and significant other Becky Ptacek of Plattsmouth, NE, nine grandchildren: Cole, Alexis, Justin, Zach, Austin, Aaron, Lucy, Justice, and Oliver, four great grandchildren: Joy, Blair, Sophia, and Brock, mother: Ethel Tschirren of Plattsmouth, NE, seven sisters: Mary Prohaska and significant other Armand Kissel of Branson, MO, Sharon Taylor and husband Stan of San Diego, CA, Barbara Davenport and husband Tom of Plattsmouth, NE, Karen Reed and husband Zane of Plattsmouth, NE, JoAnn Peterson of Plattsmouth, NE, Violet "Toni" Johnson and husband John of Bellevue, NE, Carol Meyer of Omaha, NE, four brothers: John Tschirren and wife Karen of Plattsmouth, NE, Dennis Tschirren and wife Shirley of Omaha, NE, James Tschirren and wife Sheila of Plattsmouth, NE, Alfred Major and wife Susan of Plattsmouth, NE, sister-in-law: Kathy Major of Plattsmouth, NE, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Robert Tschirren, son: Clay Burns, brother: Ralph Major, parents-in-law: Vivian and Kenneth Trively, and best friends: Robert Morton and Kenny Hamilton. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth with Pastor Carl Anderson officiating and Paul Lucas as eulogist. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. with family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. The Pallbearers will be Mike Bowen, Lonnie Iles, Micah Lanham, Kenny Peterson, Roger Schmidt, Dale Sharp, David Sharp, and Jerry Tilson. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Adkins, Vaughn Chappell, Danny Covert Sr., Bill Emanuel, Jack Gorton, Jim Halagard, Mike Kennedy, Armond Kissel, Fred Markham, Dennis Reardon, Bob Roeder, Billy Sharp, and Steve Wilson. Military Rites will be conducted by Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth. Memorials to the Family (A suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
