VALDEMAR MARTINS November 28, 1931 – September 25, 2017 Valdemar Martins age 85 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at his residence. He was born on November 28, 1931 to Lourenco Martins Fagundes and Maria Filomeno (Correia) Martins in Sao Jorge Azores, Portugal. Valdemar was raised and schooled in Azores, Portugal. He served in the Portuguese Army for two years. After serving his country, Valdemar worked as a cobbler, a diver, and in construction. He met Zenaida Gabriela de Oliveira Santos and they were later married in Terceira Azores, Portugal in 1977. In 1983, Valdemar and Zenaida moved to the United States and made their home in Plattsmouth, NE. He worked as a cobbler until he started working at First Data Resources in Omaha, NE. Valdemar continued to work at First Data until he retired in 2002. Valdemar is survived up his wife: Zenaida Martins of Plattsmouth, NE; two sons: Paulo Martins and wife Amanda of Plattsmouth, NE; Mike Martins and wife Amber of Omaha, NE; three daughters: Sandra Martins of Plattsmouth, NE; Valquiria Martins and husband Paulo Lima of Terceira, Azores, Portugal; Gabriela Oliveira and husband Delio of Bradford, Ontario, Canada, thirteen grandchildren: Somer Gaines, Julia Martins, Sarah Martins, Isabella Martins, Mason Martins, Emma Martins, Herberto Lima, Jorge Lima, Chris Lima, Madalena Oliveira, Michelle Oliveira, Samuel Oliveira, and D.J. Oliveira; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lourenco and Filomeno Martins. Visitations will be Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., with family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth with Pastor Royal D. Carleton officiating. The Pallbearers will be Paulo Martins, Mike Martins, Joe Macedo, Roberto Macedo, Danny Briggs, and Steve Yarger. His Final Resting Place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
