FRANCIS THOMAS HESTER 1931 – 2022 Francis “Bud” Thomas Hester age 91 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Bud was born on July 1, 1931 to John J. Hester Sr. and Anne Terese (Nee) Hester in Chicago, IL. He was raised and schooled in Chicago and Bud graduated from high school with the Class of 1949. After graduating from high school, he work as a plumbers apprentice until Bud enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus, OH Bud met Mary Evelyn (Carney) VanDyne and they later married on March 26, 1960 in Columbus, OH. Bud and Mary made their home in many different locations while Bud served his county in the U.S. Air Force. In 1972 they settled in Plattsmouth. Bud was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, NE until he retired in 1978. After serving his country, Bud worked as a custodian at the Plattsmouth High School. He was a member of Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #365 both of Plattsmouth. Bud is survived by his daughter: Sherry Phillips and her husband Richard of Gray Court, SC; his five sons: Larry VanDyne of Kansas City, MO; Robert VanDyne and his wife Randeen of Plattsmouth, NE; Mark VanDyne of Council Bluffs, IA; Daniel Hester of Derby, KS; Kevin Hester of Plattsmouth, NE; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; his sister: Barbara McSherry of Chicago, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: John Sr. and Anne Hester, his wife: Mary Hester, two sisters: Anne Fox and Mary M. Slivka, and his four brothers: John J. Hester Jr., James M. Hester, William R. Hester, and Thomas J. Hester. Visitations will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth with Father Sean Timmerman officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard, Military Funeral Honor Guard and Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 Honor Guard of Plattsmouth. His Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. Memorials to the Family (a suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
