HAROLD J. PAYTON 1928 – 2014 Harold J. Payton age 86 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Plattsmouth, NE. Harold was born on February 10, 1928 to Willard Earl and Effie Ann (Fullerton) Payton in Plattsmouth, NE. He was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and attended Plattsmouth High School. After high school he enlisted in the US Marines and served his country during WWII. After serving his country, he returned to Plattsmouth and began working for the Union Stock Yards Company of Omaha. Harold met the love of his life Marjorie Ann Jensen and they were later married on April 16, 1950 at Kountze Memorial Chapel in Omaha, NE. Harold and Marge made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth. He worked for the Union Stock Yards Company for 37 years, and at the time of his retirement in 1984 he held the position of Scale Master. He was a lifetime member of Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Harold is survived by his wife: Marjorie "Marge" Payton of Plattsmouth, NE, two sons: Eric "Rick" Payton and wife Jane of Plattsmouth, NE, Tom Payton of Omaha, NE, daughter: Sandra Balkovec and husband Bob of Pacific Junction, IA, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Willard and Effie Payton, two brothers: Ralph Payton and Charles Payton, and two sisters: Mildred Gerdes-Conley and Hazel Maher. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 6, 2014 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE with Pastor Lloyd Stuhr officiating and Valerie Pelley as vocalist. Visitations will be held from 1-9 P.M. with family greeting relatives and friends from 5-8 P.M., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE. The Pallbearers will be Brian Payton, Scott Payton, Travis Muellner, Dustin Muellner, Lenny Brown, and Tyson Payton. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Cole Payton, Ethan Payton, Mark Sanchez, and Lennx Brown. Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE. Military Rites will be conducted by Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543of Plattsmouth. The family suggests memorials to Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 and/or Plattsmouth Fire & Rescue.
