LELAND LEONARD MEISINGER November 3, 1932 – September 25, 2017 Leland Leonard Meisinger age 84 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Plattsmouth Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on November 3, 1932 to Hugo Phillip Michael and Dorothea "Dora" Wilhelmina (Nolting) Meisinger on the family farm near Cedar Creek, NE. Leland was raised on the Meisinger family farm, and he farmed himself until he retired in 1997. He met the love of his life Bettie Ann Sutton and they were later married on June 7, 1953 at Christ Lutheran Church, Louisville, NE. Leland served as a 4-H leader for ten years and he was a little league baseball coach. He worked as a Cass County Assessor in the mid-sixties. He served on the Soil Conservation Board and later became vice president of the Lower Platte South, Natural Resource District. He was the vice chairman of District #27 Rural School Board and the Plattsmouth School Board. He was a charter member of Hosanna Lutheran Church. He had received awards from Southwest Iowa Baseball Association, Head Start Volunteer for Outstanding Volunteer Service to the Head Start Program with the Plattsmouth Community Schools. The Grain Belt Sports Salute Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Endeavor in the field of amateur sports by the Sport Department of WOW Radio. He enjoyed working with the University of Nebraska, trying new farming practices. In the 1960's, experimenting with No-Till, with a Buffalo Planter and Cultivator. He was a supporter for many years through the Century Club for the Omaha Home for Boys. He enjoyed farming, his family, working with young people and Cardinal Baseball. He just enjoyed life and will deeply be missed, especially by those who called him Dad, Grandpa, and PaPa. Leland was member of Plattsmouth Masonic Lodge #6 A.F. and A.M., Mount Zion Commandery #5, Knights Templar, Order of Eastern Star Home Chapter #189, Tangier Shrine serving on the Potentates Staff as Ambassador, Scottish Rite of Freemasons, being a 32 degree KCCH, Knights of St. Andrew, Arbor Shrine Club of Nebraska City, and York Cross of Honor. Leland is survived by his wife: Bettie Meisinger of Plattsmouth, NE; daughter: Debra Griebe and husband Guy of Waverly, NE; three sons: Daniel Meisinger and wife Susan of Greenville, IL; Douglas Meisinger and wife Vicki of Plattsmouth, NE; Daryl Meisinger and wife Mary of Nehawka, NE; ten grandchildren, three step grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two brothers: Wayne Meisinger of Plattsmouth, NE; Fred Meisinger and wife Pat of Plattsmouth, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Hugo and Dora Meisinger, brother: Robert "Bob" Meisinger, and sister-in-law: Marj Meisinger. Visitations will be Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., Masonic Lodge Service at 7:00 P.M., and with family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 2, 2017 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth with Pastor Jim Spanjers officiating and Connie Halouska as organist. The Pallbearers will be Adam Meisinger, David Meisinger, Devin Meisinger, Jared Meisinger, Ryan Meisinger, Guy Griebe, and Jon Griebe. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Starbuck, James Crumb, and Terry Howard. His Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The family suggests Memorials to the Tangier Shrine Transportation Fund or Hosanna Lutheran Church.
