MIRAMAR DOWNEY 1949 – 2017 Miramar (Elizondo) Downey age 67 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE. She was born on January 19, 1949 to Eliberto Gutierrez and Eulalia (Pena) in Pearsall, TX. When Miramar was three years old, she moved with her family to California where she was raised and schooled. She graduated from Orestimba High School in Newman, CA with the class of 1967. Then Miramar attended Modesto Junior College in Modesto, CA and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. She worked at Patterson Frozen Foods. She met Paul "Mickey" Michael Lee Downey and they were later married on December 5, 1970 in Newman, CA. In 1972, Miramar and Mickey moved to Plattsmouth, NE where they made their home and raised their two children. She owned and operated Clip N Curl Beauty Shop in Plattsmouth. Miramar was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the PCCW (Parish Council of Christian Women) both in Plattsmouth. Miramar is survived by her husband: Paul "Mickey" Downey Sr. of Plattsmouth, NE; two sons: Paul Downey Jr. and wife Corinne of Omaha, NE; Raymond Downey and wife Deborah of Bailey, CO; seven grandchildren: Bryanna, Ella-Mia, London, Dante, Bishop, Desmond, and John Downey; three sisters: Rosita Diaz of Newman, CA; Elizabeth Ponce and husband Manuel of Fairfield, CA; Debra Gonzales of Newman, CA; three brothers: Bert Elizondo and wife Patsie of Modesto, CA; Raymond Elizondo and wife Tana of Hanford, CA; Edward Elizondo and wife Olivia of Newman, CA; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Eliberto and Eulalia Elizondo, sister: Belia Elizondo, father and mother in law: John and Ethel Downey, and brother-in-law: Gary Downey. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M., Monday, January 9, 2017 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Father David Azambawu officiating. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Father Loras K. Grell officiating, Earl Culek as lector, George Johnson as acolyte, and Terry Little as vocalist. The Pallbearers will be Bert Elizondo, Edward Elizondo, Raymond Elizondo, Jack Gordon, Rick Hadfield, Larry Jensen, Dan Montgomery, and Ed Pohlmeier. Her Final Resting Place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The family suggests memorials to the Church of The Holy Spirit or the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society.
