ROBERT EUGENE SHROPSHIRE 1926 – 2015 Robert "Bob" Eugene Shropshire age 88 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, NE. Bob was born on August 29, 1926 to Ross Reginald and Ethel May (Friesel) Shropshire in Weeping Water, NE. He was raised and schooled in Weeping Water until he was orphaned at age eleven. Bob was fostered by Fred and Agnes Walters and he moved to Creston, NE. At age seventeen, he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country in Saipan for two years from 1944 to 1946, during WWII. After serving his country he returned to Weeping Water attended and graduated from Weeping Water High School with the class of 1947. Bob met Helen Marie Appling and they were later married on March 15, 1947 in Hiawatha, KS. Bob and Helen made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth, NE. He worked as a Lab Technician at Allied Chemical in Plattsmouth, until he retired at age sixty five in 1992. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543, and Hugh J. Kerns American Legion Post #56 all of Plattsmouth. Bob is survived by his and wife: Helen Shropshire of Plattsmouth, NE, daughter: Roseanna Adams and partner Bob Logue of Johnston, IA, son: Rodney Shropshire of Omaha, NE, three grandchildren: Kristine Shropshire, Ryan Adams, Ashley Helland and husband Jess, three great grandchildren: Zakary Haring, Jack Helland, Kinley Helland, brother: Duane Shropshire of Allen, TX, sister: Susan Logan of York, NE, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: Ross and Ethel Shropshire, foster parents: Fred and Agnes Walters, three sisters: Darlene Lageman, Irene Webster, Kathleen Walters, and brother: Richard Shropshire. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth with Pastor Lloyd Stuhr officiating and Marsha Fleming as organist. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., with family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, February 13, 2015 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. The Pallbearers will be Rich Carver, Jim Handy, Paul Knoernschild, Fred Meisinger, Steve Mitchell, and Ed Vincent. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Bogle, Joy Haswell, and Steve Wilson. Military Rites will be conducted by Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth. His Final Resting Place will be Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The family suggests memorials to First Lutheran Church.
