Rodney Scott Wangler Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rodney Scott Wangler age 83 of Nehawka, NE passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at The Nebraska Medical Center, Bellevue, NE. Rodney was born on December 27, 1938 to Ivan Halvor Wangler and Gladys Elsie Theresa (Treft) Wangler in Kiron, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Omaha, NE. Rodney met LaVonne Russell and they were married on June 18, 1960 in Elk Point, SD. Rodney and LaVonne made their home and raised their children, in Omaha, NE and moved to Nehawka, NE in 2004. Rodney worked in commercial and residential construction as a Cement Mason in the Omaha area for many years. Rodney was a proud member of The U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Taylor, from 1968 to 1960. Rodney then served for three more years in the reserves. He is survived by wife: LaVonne Wangler of Nehawka, NE; three daughters: Cindy Robertson and husband Chris of Elkhorn, NE, Shari Linn and husband Roger Sr. of Millard, NE, and Kim Smith-Mecier and husband Mike of Plattsmouth, NE; nine Grandchildren, five Great Grandchildren; and two brothers Theodor “Ted” Wangler of Arkansas, and Halvor Wangler of Rudy, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rodney was preceded in death by her parents: Parents; Ivan & Elsie Wangler, Brother Keith Ivan Wangler, Sister Marion Moore, Granddaughter Mickayla Linn, and son-in-law Chad Smith.
