THYRA MAE RYAN 1916 - 2016 Thyra Mae (Baumgart) Ryan age 99 of Plattsmouth, NE, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Plattsmouth. She was born on June 13, 1916 to Edward and Dora (Kaffenberger) Baumgart in Lamar, NE. After her mother's passing at a young age, she was raised by her father and step mother Katherine. She was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1934. After graduating from high school, she worked at the Martin Bomber Plant at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, NE. After the bomber plant closed, she worked at Dr. William Vincent Ryan's dental office in Plattsmouth. Thyra and William were married on April 28, 1969 in Las Vegas, NV, and they made their home in Plattsmouth. She is survived by sister: Janet Konkler and husband Charlie of Plattsmouth, NE; sister-in-law: Martha Baumgart of Plattsmouth, NE; niece: Linda Thumann of Plattsmouth, NE; her step daughter: Mary Ann Higgins of Omaha, NE; numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Dora Baumgart, step mother: Katherine Baumgart, husband: Dr. William Ryan, three sisters: Veda Bretthorst, Eunice Campbell, and Norma Wagner, and two brothers: Gene Baumgart and Edward Baumgart. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 4, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth with Pastor Michael McGregor officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The family suggests Memorials to the Plattsmouth Fire Department or the Plattsmouth Senior Center.
