ANN JOSEPHINE HOBSON 1935 – 2026 Ann Josephine (Starkey) Hobson, age 90, of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Bailey Pointe Assisted Living at Plattsmouth, NE. Ann was born on February 7, 1935, to Joshua James Starkey and Isabelle (Leslie) Starkey in Warrington, England. She was raised and educated in Warrington. Ann grew up in England during World War II. Her mother passed away when Ann was 3 years old and she and her younger sister Patricia lived with various relatives during that time. She attended an all-girls school in Warrington where she played soccer. Ann married her husband Edward “Ed” Dewey Hobson, while Ed was stationed in England. The two later married in Warrington and had a son Michael. They moved to the United States and lived in Plattsmouth and Murray, NE. Ann obtained her U.S. citizenship on June 1, 1965, something she was very proud of. Before they moved away, Ann worked at the Rubacks store in Plattsmouth for many years. In 1984, Ann and Ed moved to California and later to Foley, AL where they lived for thirty-one years. Ann worked as a salesclerk in the fabric department at Walmart in Foley until she was 78 years old. After Ed passed away in 2015 Ann moved back to Plattsmouth to be closer to her family. ‎ She is survived by her two daughters: Catherine “Cathy” Brink and her husband Charles “Chuck” of Beaver Lake, NE and Christine Hobson of Plattsmouth, NE; her son: Michael “Mike” Hobson and his wife Jonon of Beaver Lake, NE; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. ‎ Ann was preceded in death by her parents: Joshua and Isabelle Starkey, her son: Edward K. Hobson, her daughter: Carol Durham, her sister: Patricia Neumann, two brothers: Norman Starkey and Keith Starkey, and her husband: Edward D. Hobson, one grandson and 2 great grandsons. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth with Pastor Michael Lincoln officiating. Her Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill cemetery in Plattsmouth. Memorial donations can be made to The Family for a future designation.
