BARBARA DIANE ANDERSON 1939 – 2026 Barbara Diane (Baxter) Anderson, age 87 of Plattsmouth, NE, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Diane was born on January 10, 1939, to Donald LeRoy Baxter and Merna (Hurlbut) Baxter in Council Bluffs, IA. She was raised in Council Bluffs and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the class of 1957. After high school, Diane began working for Woodmen of the World Insurance Company, where she started her working career. It was during these years that Diane met the love of her life, David D. Anderson. The two were married on May 29, 1965, in Plattsmouth, NE, and together they built a beautiful life and loving home where they raised their daughters. Diane treasured her family above all else, and her greatest joy in life came from being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Diane worked as a receptionist for Dr. Brendel and later at Internal Medicine Associates in Plattsmouth. Even after retiring, Diane couldn't stay away from the people she enjoyed being around and continued working at the Plattsmouth Schools and Gayle Casey Daycare. She loved being around children and had a natural warmth and kindness that made people feel welcome and cared for. Nothing, however, compared to the love Diane had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and truly meant more to her than anything in this world. She cherished every visit, every conversation, every hug, and every special moment she was able to share with them. Diane loved watching them grow and was always happiest when surrounded by her family. The memories she made with them will remain a precious part of their lives and a beautiful reminder of just how deeply she loved them. She is survived by her three daughters, Danette Guertin and her husband Mike of Summerville, SC, Missy Duncan of Plattsmouth, NE, and Amy Blum of Bellevue, NE; five grandchildren: Ashley Duncan, Kara Kania-Guertin and her wife Kaley, Amie Duncan, Corey Blum and his fiancée Shelby Nelson, and Ryan Blum; four great grandchildren: Liam Nelson, Ayden Duncan, Everleigh Nelson, and Camden Kania-Guertin; her sister: Nancy Pugh and her husband Rod of Omaha, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Baxter and Merna Hatch, husband: David Anderson, her sister: Pat Firestone, and two sons-in-law: Bob Duncan and Steve Blum. Visitations will be from 5:oo to 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Roby Funeral Home with Father Mark Pfeifer officiating. Her Final Resting Place will be at East Union Cemetery in Union, NE.
