Betty Jean Ash

BETTY JEAN ASH 1933 – 2020 Betty Jean (Howland) Ash, age 86 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the Papillion Manor in Papillion, NE. She was born on September 22, 1933 to Fred William Sr. and Lona Drusilla (Gentry) Howland in Omaha, NE. Betty was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and she graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1951. Betty met the love of her life Cecil "Omaha" Belvis Ash while he was serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. They were married on January 9, 1954 in Plattsmouth. After Cecil was discharged from the Air Force in 1956, Betty and Cecil lived in West Virginia for three years. In 1959 Betty and Cecil moved to Plattsmouth where they made their home and raised their children. Betty had worked at Gulfmart in Bellevue, NE, Ruback’s, Jack and Jill, and No Frills all in Plattsmouth. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a homemaker. Betty was a diehard Husker fan, Go Big Red! Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 Auxiliary, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #365 Auxiliary all of Plattsmouth. Betty is survived by her two daughters: Shawn Decker and husband Paul of Omaha, NE; Kelly Sibbing and husband Tony of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren: Nathan Decker, Aaron Decker, Ashley Jones and husband Dustin, and Alyssa Sibbing; three great grandchildren: Kaleb Decker, Cooper Jones, and Sawyer Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Fred Sr. and Lona Howland, infant daughter: Cindy Lou Ash, husband: Cecil Ash, her brother: Fred "Bill" W. Howland Jr., and sister-in-law: Jean Howland. A Visitation will be held from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Friday, September 4, 2020 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Lee Wigert officiating. The Pallbearers will be Nathan Decker, Aaron Decker, Dustin Jones, Kaleb Decker, and William Moline. Her Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
