BRENDA KAY STERN 1951 – 2019 Brenda Kay Stern age 67 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Nebraska Medicine in Bellevue, NE. Brenda was born on September 14, 1951 to Leslie Arnold and Lois Fannie (Sevrean) VonSeggern in Fremont, NE. Brenda was raised on the VonSeggern family farm, north east of Scribner, and attended District #83 Country School. She then attended and graduated from Scribner High School with the class of 1969. After graduating, she moved to Lincoln, NE, where she attended and graduated from Cosmetology School, passed her state board exams and was a licensed cosmetologist in the State of Nebraska. While living in Lincoln, she and an old high school classmate, Ray Stern, reacquainted, dated and were married on November 23, 1978, in Lincoln, NE. Brenda and Ray resided in Lincoln, but, then the Sterns moved to Plattsmouth, where Ray worked for Lincoln Telephone and telegraph, made their home, and raised their children, Paul and Katie. Brenda was a loving wife, homemaker, and gardener. She was always busy raising their children, attending their activities, school functions, and making sure their needs were met. At one time she had been a member of the Plattsmouth Fire Department Auxiliary, and had been a member of The American Legion Post 121, Auxiliary in Scribner, NE. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Raymond Paul Stern of Plattsmouth, NE, one son, Paul Stern and wife, Elizabeth, their two children, Emma and Liam, of Cheyenne, WY, one daughter, Katie Sharp and husband Max, their two sons, Jaxon and Cade, of Plattsmouth, NE, her Mother, Lois VonSeggern, of Scribner, NE, two sisters, Vickie Porter and husband Leigh, their children, Vanessa (Michael) Zimmer, Valerie (Justin) Kubick all of Lincoln, NE, Tracie Zahourek and husband Dan, of Scribner, NE, their children, Jonathan Zahourek of Blair, NE, Andrea Zahourek of Fremont, NE, Stefanie Zahourek of Lincoln, NE, Joseph Zahourek of Scribner, NE, and one brother, Mark VonSeggern of Scribner, NE, Father and Mother in Law, Ivan and Ila Mae (Jan) Stern of Bellevue, NE, brother in law, Ernie Stern and wife, Deborah of York, NE, their children, Ragene Warner of Arlington, NE, Dixie Henrichson of Branson, MO, Tommy (Kelsy) Stern of Hastings, NE, plus a host of relatives, cousins and many friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Arnold VonSeggern. Visitations for Brenda will be held on Tuesday, January 8, at Roby Funeral Home, from 1pm to 9pm, with family present, 5pm to 8pm, and are open to the public. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Roby Funeral Home, with Pastor Nicki McIntyre officiating.
