David "Dave" William Mayer

DAVID WILLIAM MAYER 1940 – 2023 David “Dave” William Mayer MSgt, U.S.A.F. (Ret) age 83 of Plattsmouth, NE peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, NE. Dave was born on April 15, 1940 t0 Carlton Wesley and Agnes Mary (O’Neill) Mayer in Boston, MA. Dave joined the U.S. Air Force on January 5, 1959. He spent some time at the U.S.A.F. Academy in Colorado Springs, where he played 1st Baritone Bugle in the A.F. Academy Drum & Bugle Corps. Later in his A.F. career, he studied computers and enjoyed being a Computer Systems Analyst until his retirement January 31, 1979. After retirement from the U.S.A.F., he gained employment at St. Joseph Hospital as a Computer Systems Analyst. During Dave’s time in the A.F., he married his 1st wife and to this union was born a daughter and three sons. They also adopted a daughter. This union ended in divorce. In 1982, he married again and fathered two daughters. Once he retired from St. Joseph Hospital, he still enjoyed anything with computers and watching “Blue Bloods", “NCIS” and football on TV. Dave is survived by his wife: Doreen Mayer of Plattsmouth, NE; three sons: David Mayer Jr. (Susan) of Council Bluffs, IA, Kevin Mayer (Lisa) of Omaha, NE, and Mark Mayer of Bettendorf, IA; three daughters: Faith Ann Mayer of Bellevue, NE, Danielle Coffelt (Chad) of Plattsmouth, NE, and Deidre Donoho (John) of Plattsmouth, NE; ten grandchildren: Cole Mayer, Seanna O'Connor (Tommy), Miranda Mayer (Katrina Wulf), Alexis Mayer, Max Mayer (Amani), Megan Donoho, River Moss, Aiden Coffelt, Eric Coffelt, and Shawn Donoho; eight great grandchildren; his brother: Carl Mayer (Debbie) of Brockton, MA; his sister: Patricia Benallick of Hamilton, ON Canada; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dave truly enjoyed the “Love” he shared with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Carlton and Agnes Mayer, infant daughter: Angel Mayer, and his brother: Steven Mayer. Visitations will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Roby Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Wigert officiating. A Graveside Internment will be at 10:00 A.M., on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, NE. Military Rites will be conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard, Military Funeral Honors Team of Bellevue, NE. Memorials to the Family (a suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
