Donald LeRoy March

DONALD LEROY MARCH 1931 - 2016 Donald LeRoy March age 84 of Plattsmouth, NE peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his residence. Donald was born on July 24, 1931 to Harvey W. and Irene Mae (Wright) Furry in Weeping Water, NE. He was raised and schooled in Weeping Water, Scotland County, MO, and Plattsmouth, and he had attended Plattsmouth High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country for three years and ten months during the Korean Conflict. Donald met the love of his life, Marilyn Jean Koukal at a pastry shop on Main Street in Plattsmouth and they later married on December 12, 1953 at St. John's Catholic Church in Plattsmouth. Donald and Marilyn made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth. He had worked as a cement finisher for Local #538 in Omaha, NE for over twenty five years. He was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit, a lifetime member of Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 both of Plattsmouth, and Cement Finishers Local #538 of Omaha. Donald is survived by his three sons: Donald J. March of Stafford, VA; Rick A. March of Bellevue, NE; Michael March and wife Marliss of Omaha, NE; four daughters: Laura Prater of Plattsmouth, NE; Karen Forney and husband Brian of Thurman, IA; Julie Boatwright and husband Tony of Omaha, NE; Linda Sullivan and husband Matt of Plattsmouth, NE; eighteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, two brothers: Ronald A. March (twin brother) and wife Betty of Indialantic, FL; LeRoy W. Furry and wife Lorene of Lincoln, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harvey and Irene Furry, brother: Richard "Dick" Duane March, sister: Ruth Mae Mussman, infant daughter: Sandra Lee March, son: Jeffrey "Feffy" Scott March, and wife: Marilyn Jean March. Visitations will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Church of The Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Church of The Holy Spirit. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Church of The Holy Spirit with Father Loras K. Grell officiating, Rick A. March as lector, Leo Sand and Tony Salazar as acolytes, Terry Little and Brian Forney as vocalists, Marsha Fleming as organist, and Ryan Boatwright, Matthew Sullivan, and Anthony Vigneri as altar boys. Pallbearers will be Donald J. March, Rick A. March, Michael S. March, Jamie S. March, LeRoy W. Furry, and Ronald A. March. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth with Military Rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard and the American Legion #331 Honor Guard of Omaha, NE. The family suggests Memorials for Masses at Church of The Holy Spirit and/or to the Family (A suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
