HELEN MARIE BLOM 1925 – 2023 Helen Marie (Armstrong) Blom, age 97 of Plattsmouth, NE peacefully passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 at The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Helen was born July 29, 1925 to Ivan Lemuel Armstrong and Mabel E. (Hunt) Armstrong in Lincoln, NE. She graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln. At the age of eighteen Helen married John Frederick Wolfe Sr. and to this union four children were born. Helen lived in California for several years before returning to Nebraska. She met Loyle Dewey Blom and they were later married on May 30, 1969. Helen and Loyle made their home on their farm west of Plattsmouth. She was an accomplished homemaker and farm wife, gardening and preserving the produce. Helen was very skilled with her hands: sewing, furniture refinishing, floral work, needlework, and crafts. Helen was a member of Martha Washington Order of the Eastern Star #153 for more than fifty years and she was a member of the Scottish Society of Nebraska. She is survived by her four children: Jonann Marie Hall, Nancy Jean Hull, Jane Katherine Smith, and John F. Wolfe Jr.; ten grandchildren: Wanda Martin, E.O. Martin, Jeff Martin, John M. Atkins III, Colin Atkins, Bridey Barber, Andrew Atkins, Heidi Bartel, Russell Smith, and Kevin Smith; eight great grandchildren: Delphine, Jenna, Christopher, Hannah, Rae, Maisie, Lily, and Ivan; three great great grandchildren: Jax, Quinn, and Zoey; her sister: Doris Cornelson; three nieces: Cyndi Proffitt, Ramona Cornelson, and Anna Marie Peacock; two nephews: Doug Cornelson and Larry Barrett; three great nephews: Justin Proffitt, Lucas Proffitt and Brandon Proffitt; eleven great great nieces and nephews: Dominik, Dinika, Miran, Whit, Libby, Landon, Leyton, Sarah, Aaron, Parker and Peyton; numerous cousins; and many friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents: Ivan and Mabel Hunt, her husbands: John Wolfe Sr. and Loyle Blom, and her sister: Betty Jo Underhill. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at The Nebraska Masonic Home Chapel in Plattsmouth with Pastor Chris Abbott officiating. Her Final Resting Place will be at Thief Lake Cemetery in Middle River, MN. The family suggests Memorials to The Nebraska Masonic Home.
