JILL PORTER 1943 – 2023 Jill (Gardner) Porter age 87 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Hillcrest Health Plaza in Bellevue, NE. She was born on August 22, 1935 to Sterling Wilson Lorenzo Dow Gardner and Addie Virginia (Cohn) Gardner in Nebraska City, NE. Jill was raised and schooled in Nebraska City. In 1951, she moved with her family to Plattsmouth. Jill worked at Kent’s Café as a waitress. She met Edward “Bub” Silas Porter and later married on April 6, 1957 in Nebraska City. Jill and Ed made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth. She had worked at the Plattsmouth Manor and Jill retired from The Nebraska Masonic Home. Jill is survived by her two daughters: Jolene “Jodi” Nickels and her husband Buck of Plattsmouth, NE; Jennifer “Jenny” Larsen of Plattsmouth, NE; three sons: Jim Poole and his significant other Dianna Strokan of Omaha, NE; Mick Porter and his wife Lori of Cozad, NE; Tim Porter and his wife Sue of Plattsmouth, NE; daughter-in-law: Karen Lord of Valparaiso, FL; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Kola Curttright of Plattsmouth, NE; Glenda Hervey and her husband Del of Plattsmouth, NE; sister-in-law: Ann Gardner of Plattsmouth, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Sterling and Virginia Gardner, her husband: Ed Porter, brother: Larry Gardner, her grandson: Adam Porter, and her brother-in-law: Bob Curttright. Visitations will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at First Christian Church in Plattsmouth with Pastor Michael Lincoln officiating. The Pallbearers will be Justin Bruns, Ben Hanner, Samantha Hanner, Lindsey Honeyman, Aaron Porter, Dylan Porter, and Maddy Porter. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Regan Bruns, Allen Cadotte, Colene Haffke, Ryan Henry, Brandon Honeyman, Desiree Larsen, Jeremy Larsen (In Remembrance), Collin Lawrence, and Adam Porter (In Remembrance). Her Final Resting Place will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Nehawka. The family suggests Memorials to First Christian Church or the Plattsmouth Public Library Foundation.
