JUDY ANN BRUNS 1949 – 2024 Judy Ann (Schuster) Bruns age 74 of Omaha, NE passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at The Willows at Gretna in Gretna, NE. She was born on March 7, 1949 to Sylvester Paul Schuster and Mary Ann (Puchalla) Schuster in Tecumseh, NE. She was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth, NE and Ponca City, OK. Judy attended grade school at St John's Catholic School in Plattsmouth and she graduated from Assumption High School in Ponca City with the class of 1967. After high school she was a nurse aid at the Plattsmouth Manor where she met the love of her life Michael “Mike” Allen Bruns in 1968 and they later married on August 16, 1969 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plattsmouth. Mike and Judy made their home and raised their children in Plattsmouth. In 1997 Judy and Mike moved to Omaha. Judy spent her time as a homemaker, caring for her family. She was an avid bowler and even coached her children in bowling leagues. She is survived by her daughter: Cathy Harrington (Craig Gaskill) of Omaha, NE; two sons: Lenny Bruns of Omaha, NE; Eric (Alla) Bruns of Salt Lake City, UT; five grandchildren: Cassidy Bruns, Samantha Bruns, Kendra Westerman, Matthew Bruns, and Cydney Vincent-Bruns; her brother: James (Ruth) Schuster of Omaha, NE; sister: Lucy Harris of Omaha, NE; four sisters-in-law: Rebecca (Larry) Stafford of Tecumseh, NE, Christine Troia of Plattsmouth, NE, Virginia (Richard) Manley of Plattsmouth, NE and Joanne (Randy) Scott of Bellevue, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents: Sylvester and Mary Schuster, parents-in-law: Harvey and Wanda Bruns, her husband: Mike Bruns, two grandchildren: Kathryn "Katie" Mass and Tony Holman, her son: Jason Bruns, and her brother-in-law: William “Red” Harris. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 P.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Omaha with Father Andrew Sohm officiating. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Judy's grandchildren: Cassidy Bruns, Samantha Bruns, Kendra Westerman, Matthew Bruns, and Cydney Vincent-Bruns. Her Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. Memorials to the Family (a suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
