LEONARD MELVIN DAVEY JR. 1931 – 2026 Leonard Melvin Davey Jr. age 95 of Bellevue, NE formerly of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, NE. Leonard was born on January 3, 1931, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Leonard Melvin Davey Sr. and Sadie Irene (Belohlavy) Davey. He spent his childhood in Verdigre where he graduated from Verdigre High School Class of 1949. Following graduation, Leonard attended Auctioneering School in Ames, Iowa, a path that reflected his strong work ethic and willingness to learn. After completing his studies, he returned to help on the family farm in Verdigre before eventually settling back in Plattsmouth. The greatest blessing of Leonard's life came during the summer of 1955, when he met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Mason. Their love story blossomed, and on August 17, 1957, they were united in marriage in Plattsmouth. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion, making their home in Plattsmouth where they lovingly raised their son, Mark. Leonard and Patricia shared a beautiful marriage rooted in faith, family, and a deep commitment to one another. Leonard dedicated 54 years of his life to working at the Omaha Stockyards, where he was known for his reliability, hard work, and quiet dedication. His career was more than just a job—it was a testament to the values he carried throughout his life: loyalty, perseverance, and providing for the people he loved. After his retirement, Leonard and Patricia moved to Bellevue, where they enjoyed spending their later years together, cherishing the family and memories they had built over a lifetime. He is survived by his son: Mark Davey of Bellevue, NE; two granddaughters: Kylene Davey of Bellevue, NE; Katie Good and her husband Dan of Omaha, NE; and numerous cousins and friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents: Leonard Sr. and Sadie Davey, his wife: Patricia Davey, and his daughter-in-law: Mary Beth Davey. Visitations will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, August 3, 2026 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Roby Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Lincoln officiating. The Pallbearers will be John Begley, Mark Davey, Dan Good, Tim Rice, Scott Tribout and Dan Whalen. His Final Resting Place will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE.
