Leta Caroline Herre

Leta Caroline Herre 1917 - 2013 Leta Caroline (Biere) Herre Age 95 of Plattsmouth passed away on July 31, 2013 at the Nebraska Masonic Home. Leta was born on August 27, 1917 in Talmage, NE. She was the fourth child born to William Lewis and Minnie Louise (Wellensiek) Biere. Caroline was chosen for her middle name in honor of her Grandmother, Caroline Wellensiek. Leta was baptized October 14th, 1917 at Zion Evangelical Church in Talmage, NE. She was confirmed on March 29, 1931 by Rev. Push. She was raised and attended elementary and secondary school in Talmage, NE. She attended and graduated from Brock High School in Brock, NE. Leta married Fred R. Herre on June 15, 1940, in Talmage, NE with Rev. Seybold officiating. Fred was employed at the Brock Bank where they met one day when she came in to cash a check. They had lived in Brock, NE, Plattsmouth, NE, Omaha, NE, and wintered in Sun City, AZ. Leta had resided at Trinity Village Independent Living in Papillion, NE and most recently was a resident of the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, NE. Leta was many things… a loving and enthusiastic mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and aunt… a very good homemaker and cook… a religious woman, good friend, neighbor, and caretaker of her family. Leta was of the Lutheran faith and she had attended and was a member of Lutheran churches in Omaha, NE, Papillion, NE, and Sun City, AZ. Those family members remaining to celebrate her life include her Daughter: Linda Koppenhaver and husband John of Bella Vista, AR, Grandson: Benton Bates and wife Amanda of Denver, Colorado and their son Miller Benton Bates (Leta's great-grandson), Granddaughter: Jocelyn Bates of Kansas City, MO, her Niece: Carolyn Bolstad of Winifred, MT, her three Nephews: Larry Biere and wife Judy of Roundup, MT, Bob Herre and wife Beverly of Greeley, CO, Russell Herre and wife Mary of Grand Junction, CO and her 2 Great Nieces: Susan Bruce and husband Steve of Omaha, NE, Suzy Bergman & husband Kyle of Kansas City, MO. Those preceding her in death are her parents: William & Minnie Biere, her husband: Fred R. Herre (February 9, 2007), and her three brothers: Carl, Herman, and Arnold Biere. Funeral Service were held at 10 AM, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Nebraska Masonic Home Chapel in Plattsmouth with Pastor David Kersting officiating. Visitations were from 5-7 PM, Friday, August 2, 2013 at Roby Funeral Home. Interment was at St. Paul's Cemetery in Talmage, NE. Memorials to the Nebraska Masonic Home, Plattsmouth, NE.
