MABLE KAY RODABAUGH 1946 – 2026 Mable Kay (Evans) Rodabaugh, age 79, of Plattsmouth, NE, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 5th 1946, in Colorado City, TX, Mable was the daughter of Newt and Ardell (Chesshir) Evans. On January 19th, 1963, Mable married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Douglas "Gene" Rodabaugh in Big Springs, TX. Together, they embarked on a remarkable 52-year marriage filled with deep devotion, laughter, and the unique adventures of military life. Mable dedicated her life to raising her children Zetta Sue "Susie" and Edward "Ed" by creating a warm and welcoming home at each base they were stationed at. As a dedicated military wife, Mable was the steadfast heartbeat of the Rodabaugh family. During Doug's Tour of Duty during the Vietnam War, long deployments, multiple duty station relocations including her favorite at Camp New Amsterdam, Holland, she managed the home front with unmatched grace, fierce independence, and boundless resilience. Mable excelled in her vital role as the cornerstone of their military family. In 1981, following a duty assignment at Offutt Air Force Base, Mable and Doug settled and prepared for retirement in Plattsmouth, NE. In 1986, she unexpectedly became the guardian of her sister's children; Eric, Crystal and Frank, to which she raised and loved as her own. Above all roles in her life, Mable was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally and was always present throughout their lives and adventures. Mable developed a deep appreciation for the art of creation at a young age; sewing everything from baby clothes to making every set of curtains ever hung in her home. She was a master quilter, known for her extraordinary eye for color, intricate patterns, and the boundless love she stitched into every project. Whether she was piecing together a complex quilt for a new grandchild, altering a dress, or crafting gifts for friends, her hands were rarely still. Her sewing room was a haven of warmth, laughter, and creativity, always open to anyone who wanted to join her. She and her friends began a retirement sewing group. This group continued to visit the last few years and helped keep her hands busy, mind sharp and encouraged her to complete her final quilting projects. Mable valued their friendships, time and care they devoted to her. Mable is survived by her children: Susie Ohler of Keiser, AR, Ed Rodabaugh (Terri) of Omaha, NE, Eric Holman of Plattsmouth, NE, Crystal Holman of Plattsmouth, NE, and Frank (Carolyn) Holman of Bellevue, NE, her sisters: Tommie Jean Boswell of Hamilton, TX and LaJuan Womack of Midland, TX, many extended family members, and dear friends. Mable leaves behind a beautiful legacy and will be lovingly remembered by her 19 cherished grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband: CMSGT Douglas Rodabaugh; father: Newt, mother: Ardell, son-in-law: Archie Ohler, brothers: Larry Evans and Richard Evans, sister: Billie Jo Holman, sisters-in-law: Noma Evans and Joy Evans, brothers-in-law: Wendall Womack and Gary Boswell, and nephews: Willie Womack and Wayne Womack. A Celebration of Mable's Life will be held on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael Lincoln officiating, located at 802 Avenue at First Christian Church C in Plattsmouth, NE. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the celebration. Her Final Resting Place will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share their favorite memories of her. A luncheon will be held at the First Christian Church's Fellowship Hall following the graveside services.
