Mary Louise Kocanda

MARY LOUISE KOCANDA June 30, 1933 – August 31, 2017 Mary "Mary Lou" Louise (Hrbek) Kocanda age 84 of Plattsmouth, NE entered Heaven surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at her residence. She was born on June 30, 1933 to Edward and Emilie (Skvaril) Hrbek in Omaha, NE. She was raised and schooled in Omaha and graduated from South High School. After graduating from high school, Mary Lou worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. She met Eugene "Gene" Edward Kocanda and they were later married on June 4, 1955 at Assumption Catholic Church in Omaha. Mary Lou and Gene made their home and raised their children in Omaha. Mary Lou was a wife, stay at home mom, and a homemaker. Mary Lou and Gene moved to Buccaneer Bay in 1992. She was devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to many. Mary Lou was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, P.C.C.W. (Parish Council of Catholic Women), and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Our Lady of Loretto Court #709 all of Plattsmouth, NE. She is survived by her husband: Eugene "Gene" Kocanda of Plattsmouth, NE; three daughters: Teresa "Terri" Heineman and husband Michael "Mic" of Omaha, NE; Jeanne Miller of Omaha, NE; Ann McAndrews and husband Steve of Omaha, NE; three sons: Michael Kocanda of Omaha, NE; William "Bill" Kocanda of Omaha, NE; Paul Kocanda and Audra of Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren: Cheryl, Jeremy, Greg, Nicole, T.J., Bryan, Abby, Stephanie, and Katie; nine great grandchildren: MaKenna, Blake, Christian, Charliegh, Olivia, DeLanynie, Ryah, Kash, and Weston; one brother: Edward Hrbek of Omaha, NE; one sister: Emilie Deeds of Bellevue, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Emilie Hrbek, two sons: Edward Kocanda and Patrick Kocanda, and grandson: Ryan Heineman. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Church of The Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Church of The Holy Spirit with Father Michael Houlihan officiating, Marcus Madej and Ron Madej as acolytes, Terry Little as vocalist, and Laurie Hajek-Jones as organist. The Pallbearers will be Mary's Grandchildren and the Honorary Pallbearers will be Mary's Great Grandchildren. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at St. John's Cemetery in Bellevue. The family suggests Memorials for Masses or Donor's Favorite Charity.
