Milo DeWitt Perry, Jr.

MILO DEWITT PERRY, JR. 1925 – 2014 Milo DeWitt Perry, Jr. age 89 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Milo was born on July 6, 1925 to Milo DeWitt Sr. and Freda (Dietz) Perry in Norfolk, NE. He was raised and schooled in Norfolk and he graduated from Norfolk High School with the class of 1943. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving during WWII in the Pacific Theatre for three years. Milo married the love of his life LaVerne Mae Kellner on August 29, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Norfolk Junior College, and graduated from St. Louis School of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO. He completed his mortuary science internship at John A. Gentleman Mortuary in Omaha, NE. Then Milo worked for Crosby Kunold Funeral Home in Omaha and later for Bader Funeral Home in Fremont, NE. In 1964, Milo purchased Sattler Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. He and John Fusselman operated Fusselman Perry Funeral Homes in Plattsmouth, Louisville, and Syracuse, NE. Milo retired 1982, and then in 1986 Milo and LaVerne moved to Belle Vista, AR where they enjoyed their retirement years. In 2008 they moved to Bellevue, NE and in 2013 to the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Milo was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Plattsmouth Masonic Lodge #6 A.F. and A.M., Order of Eastern Star Home Chapter #189, Hugh J. Kerns American Legion Post #56, Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543, and 40 & 8 Voiture #1218 all of Plattsmouth. Milo was a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #365 and Plattsmouth Lions Club both of Plattsmouth. Milo is survived by his wife of sixty six years: LaVerne Perry of Plattsmouth, NE, daughter: Susan Nielsen and husband Steven of Bellevue, NE, son: James "Jim" Perry and wife Sandra "Sandy" of Fremont, NE, five grandchildren: Scott Nielsen and wife Naomi, Sherry Arch and husband Rick, Spencer Nielsen and wife Melissa "Missy", Keith Perry and wife Stacy, Sara Christiansen and husband Anthony "Tony", ten great grandchildren: Alyssa DeLaCruz, Logan Arch, Amelia Nielsen, Aileena Nielsen, Mackenzie Perry, Sydney Perry, Kamdyn Perry, Emma Christiansen, Autumn Christiansen, Hunter Christiansen, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Milo Sr. and Freda Perry, older sister: Iris Johnson, and twin sister: Margaret "June" Perry. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth with Pastor Carl Anderson officiating and Carol Wehrbein as organist. A Masonic Rites Service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 28, 2014 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., with family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 28, 2014 at Roby Funeral Home. Milo's Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth. Military Rites will be conducted by the Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 of Plattsmouth. The Pallbearers will be Scott Nielsen, Rick Arch, Tony Christiansen, Dr. Mike Hord, Scott Hord, and Randy Nielsen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Spencer Nielsen, Keith Perry, and Keith Roby. The family suggests memorials to First Presbyterian Church and/or to Omaha World Herald Goodfellows Charities, Inc.
