Naomi Magdalene Rhoades

NAOMI MAGDALENE RHOADES 1917 - 2014 Naomi Magdalene (Swabby) Rhoades age 97 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE. Naomi was born on March 9, 1917 to Clifford Walter and Goldie (Myrley) Swabby in Windom, KS. She was one of eleven children and at age three moved with her family to Ava, MO. She was raised and attended school in Bolivar, MO. After attending school, Naomi became a nursing assistant. She met Raymond Campbell and they were later married on January 10, 1934 in Dunnegan, MO. Raymond and Naomi made their home and raised their three children: Norma, Janet, and Dennis in Plattsmouth, NE. Later, she met Richard "Dick" Samuel Rhoades and they were married on July 23, 1954 in Nebraska City, NE and to that union their daughter Patricia was born. She worked at the Nebraska Masonic Home and later at the Moore's residence on N. 6th Street both in Plattsmouth. She loved working with older people because she knew someday she would be old herself. She was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth. Naomi is survived by her son: Dennis Campbell and wife Sharon of Beaver Lake, NE, two daughters: Norma Hebard of Bellevue, NE, Pat Tandy and husband Steve of Plattsmouth, NE, thirteen grandchildren: Evie Abercrombie and husband Tony, Holly Nielsen and husband Lucas, Mark Cundall and wife Julie, Scott Cundall and wife Kim, Bret Cundall and wife Angela, Jodi Hayes and husband Bill, Vicki Metteis and husband Doug, David Hebard, Debbie Tyrell and husband Dan, Doug Hebard and wife Laura, Roger Campbell and wife Becky, Robb Campbell, Shane Campbell and wife Nichole, twenty two great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, two brothers: Kenneth Swabby and wife Doris of Neosha, MO, John Swabby and wife Molly of Springfield, MO, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Clifford and Goldie Swabby, two husbands: Raymond Campbell, Richard "Dick" Rhoades, four sisters: Mabel Platte, Verna Jenkins, Florence Campbell, Wilma Campbell, four brothers: Frank Swabby, Tom Swabby, Gordon Swabby, Deryl Swabby, one daughter: Janet Cundall, and two sons-in-law: Larry Cundall, Thomas Hebard. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth, NE with Pastor Jim Spanjers officiating and Connie Halouska as organist. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE. The family suggests memorials to Hosanna Lutheran Church.
