Sharilyn Ann Scroggins

SHARILYN ANN SCROGGINS 1941 – 2023 Sharilyn Ann (Barnard) Scroggins age 82 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, NE. She was born on August 28, 1941 to Richard Leon Barnard and Mayme Loah (Risdon) Stanfield in Malvern, IA. Sharilyn was raised and attended school in Springfield, Ashland, and Craig, NE, but she graduated from high school in Lakewood, WA. After high school Sharilyn attended Beauty School in Tacoma, WA and became a Beauty Operator. It was at this time she was in a USO Beauty Pageant and subsequently crowned Queen. She then met and married Larry Scroggins, to this union two children were born, Greg and Sharon. The Barnards moved to Sidney, IA, Sharilyn and her children accompanied them. Sharilyn, her children and the Barnards moved to Omaha in January of 1965. She was a Nurses Aid at Methodist Hospital, an X-ray Aid at The University of Nebraska Medical Center and an Eligibility Enrollment Clerk for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co., retiring after more than 25 years. Sharilyn had been a resident of The Nebraska Masonic Home since 2019. She was a member of Order of The Eastern Star Herman Chapter #216 in Herman, NE. Sharilyn is survived by her son: Greg Scroggins of Omaha, NE; daughter: Sharon Orchowski and her husband Joe of Crofton, MD; two grandchildren: Shawn Orchowski and his girlfriend Jess and Kim Quinn and her husband Kyle; her great grandson: Carter Quinn; her brother: Jack Barnard of Washington, UT; her sister: Judy Beedle and her husband Jim of Omaha, NE; her sister-in-law, Jan Barnard of Tekamah, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard Barnard and Mayme Stanfield and her brother: Richard George Barnard. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth with Pastor Chris Abbott officiating. Her Final Resting Place will be at Herman Cemetery in Herman, NE. The family suggests Memorials to The Nebraska Masonic Home of Plattsmouth, NE.
