YVETTE LOUISE COLE 1935 – 2026 Yvette Louise (Nusbaum) Cole, age 91 of Plattsmouth, NE, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Yvette was born on January 7, 1935 to Louis Nusbaum and Frida (Runzer) Nusbaum in Phalsbourg, France. She was raised in France, where she attended school and later worked for five years in a clothing factory. Her life would take her across the ocean and eventually lead her to the United States, where she would build a loving home and family. While living in France, Yvette met John Myron Cole, who was stationed at the Phalsbourg U.S. Air Force Base. The two were married on April 15, 1959, in Bois-de-Chenes, France. Yvette came to the United States on May 28, 1961, beginning a new chapter of her life in Plattsmouth. She became a proud United States citizen on May 27, 1965. Yvette also completed her GED in Plattsmouth, a wonderful accomplishment that reflected her determination and desire to continue learning. Yvette devoted 30 years of her working life to food service in the Plattsmouth Public Schools. She took great pride in her cooking and in the many people she came to know throughout the years. Yvette's journey from France to Nebraska was filled with courage, hard work, love, and devotion to her family. She made a life and a home in Plattsmouth and leaves behind many treasured memories that will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, sisters, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Catholic Daughters, P.C.C.W., and the Lepert Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 Auxiliary. She is survived by her sons, John Cole Jr. and his wife Catherine Plattsmouth, NE and Gerald Cole and his wife Kelli of Bellevue, NE; daughter, Carleen Blankenship of LaVista, NE; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, her four sisters, Anita Grisnik and her husband Donald of Bellevue, NE, Mary Nusbaum of Florange, France, Sylvia Lauterbach of Strasbourg, France, and Cecilia of Phalsbourg, France, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Yvette was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Frida Nusbaum; her husband, John M. Cole; and her four brothers, Jean-Marie Demange, Bruno Demange, Jean-Pierre Demange, and Joseph Nusbaum. A Rosary will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 31, 2026 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 31, 2026 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Father Mark Pfeifer officiating. Her Final Resting Place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth. The family suggests Memorials to St. John the Baptist School.
